W/O John McCredie flew Liberators from Dhubalia in India.  He’s written an extensive memoir in the form of letters to his daughter, which are compulsive reading.   A short extract is here.

Over a long period of email correspondence, Bill Bowler, rear gunner in W/O J McCredie’s crew, provided a discourse on rear gun turrets which is well worth a read.  This discourse also made it into the McCredie book.   Sadly Bill died before he could see it in print.  I miss his witty, irreverent, amusing and ever sharp correspondence.  Bill was one of life’s good blokes.
