From the Ops record Books, Jessore:

 

“4.1.44.  09:50.  F/O Richards crashed while carrying out an air test.  The accident was primarily due to failure of the starboard engine.  The entire crew, consisting of F/O Richards (Pilot), F/O Tiplady (Nav), F/S Rumsey (B/A), F/S Ross (Wop/Ag), F/S Larsen (A/G), Cpl. Brown (W.O.M.), and A.C. Cornish (F.M.E.) was killed.

 

5.1.44.  08:00.  The funeral service for the personnel killed in LN 263 was held in Jessore Christian Cemetery.    The burial services were conducted by S/L Muttan for the Church of England and O.D. Personnel, and by Father Weaver (R.C.) of St. Thomas’ Church, Calcutta for F/O Richards.  Mr V.E.R. Cornish (the brother of A.C. Cornish) was contacted and enabled to be present.”

 

This section is in recognition of  all those who failed to return due to causes other than enemy action, be they accident or disease.

After the War, the bodies were exhumed and laid to rest in the Commonwealth War Cemetary, Chittagong, Bangladesh
